Wrice and Lowenthal honored with MAAC awards

Senior Sabra Wrice and junior Baendu Lowenthal both were named to the All-MAAC teams, which were announced today. Wrice was named to the first team, while Lowenthal received a spot on the second team. The first team players will all be eligible for the player of the year award, which will be announced Thursday night in Albany.

Wrice finished fourth in the MAAC in scoring with 16.4 points per game and third in steals with 2.21 per game. Lowenthal finished fifth in the league with 14.7 points per game and third in rebounding with 7.8 per game.

Joining Wrice as candidates for the player of the year award are, Marist's Rachele Fitz, Manhattan's Caitlin Flood, St. Peter's Tania Kennedy and Siena's Laura Menty.

Fitz, who was the MAAC freshman of the year last season, finished second in the conference in scoring with 18.9 points per game and fourth in rebounding with 7.6. She helped the Red Foxes to an undefeated MAAC season (18-0) and is the favorite to win the award.
